Keeping your Golden Retriever Healthy

Keeping your golden retriever healthy can also mean keeping his immune system in good condition. This helps him fend off diseases easily and prevent him from being sick at some point of his life. There are many ways to improve the immune system of our dogs. Here you can learn some of the points to ponder if you really care for your golden retriever.

Homemade dog food is the best for Golden retrievers compared to canned food. It tastes a lot better and contains more vitamins and minerals that are not abundantly found in canned food. You may choose to mix homemade food with canned food or depending on your preference. When it comes to drinking water for your golden, choose spring water over faucet water. Spring water is not likely to contain dangerous minerals unlike faucet water which may contain lead and mercury and other dangerous metals.

Feeding him raw bones will help him develop a strong set of white teeth. Try to make it a good treat by sparing lots of meat on the bone. Having a good teeth is one good quality of a golden retriever. Giving him one bone per day will help him develop his teeth and jaw strength as he will keep chewing everyday. You can also give him chew toys as substitute. This can be helpful if you’re playing with him.

Knowing what health problems your golden retriever can encounter will also keep him healthy all throughout the year. This way you won’t go to the vet from time to time. However if your vet, tells you something he should know, you should tell him what your golden is experiencing so you can help reduce the problem for your golden retriever.

You should try to check your golden retriever for any reproductive system problems. You should check the problem sooner or it may be too late. Neutering your male golden retriever will help him avoid contact with female golden retrievers if your planning not to breed your golden retriever yet or avoid any type of reproductive problems caused by the opposite golden retriever.

Keep in mind to keep your dog healthy at all times and he will stay with you a lot longer. Make your dog always comfortable and give him a nice diet and adequate exercise to keep him fit and strong. Good pets are the healthy ones that can synchronize with you with your day to day activities.

Weightloss – healthy eating and exercise

The medical definition of weightloss is a decrease in body weight resulting from either voluntary (diet, exercise) or involuntary (illness) circumstances.

According to WHO, there are more than 1 billion overweight adults all over the world who pose a major risk for various chronic diseases, including type 2 diabetes, cardiovascular disease, hypertension and stroke, and certain forms of cancer. Economic growth, modernization, urbanization and globalization of food markets are just some of the forces thought to underlie the global effect. These staggering numbers hint at the importance of weightloss.

Although weightloss is important, a clear distinction between unhealthy and healthy weightloss is essential. Unhealthy weightloss can cause health complications. Quick fix diet is a fast way to lose weight as they tend to cut certain foods out of the diet  which is certainly not good for you. Not only does this lack of food group affect our energy levels and other bodily functions, but once you introduce that food back into the diet your body will be confused and that is when the weight will come straight back on; tempting people to start another diet recipes and the process starts again.

This constant yo-yo dieting can cause health problems and it can cause weight gain as it feels it is starving. Every time that the weight comes back on, it actually makes it harder to lose it again. So, it is always better not to take part in so called quick fix diets. There are healthy diet recipes for weightloss.

Healthy weightloss is one of the methods to keep oneself attractive, healthy, physically fit and vigorous. Loosing weight can improve your health in many ways. Eat fresh vegetables. Avoid mixing proteins (meats) with starches (breads and potatoes). Eat lots of fresh fruits between meals and the best time to eat fruit is either 20 minutes before a meal or midway between meals as it helps regulate your blood sugar and diminish cravings. When you first feel a twinge of hunger, don’t reach for the regular sugary carbo snack; instead, reach for a 300 ml glass of clean purified water. This will suppress the feeling of hunger that’s often mistaken when the body really wants water anyway. At every meal time, stop eating when you are about 80% complete.  It takes the brain about 20 minutes to register food is on the way and this is a great way to control the serving size and still eat well. Eat five or six small meals or snacks a day instead of three large meals. When indulging on evil foods like desert, don’t try to eat them all!  Instead take 1 or 2 samples and really enjoy each without guilt. Limit animal protein consumption to not more than 4-5 servings per week Do not drink liquids with your meals. If you are thirsty, try to have a glass of clean water 10 minutes or so before the meal.  While you are eating, you want your body to be efficient at digesting the foods and absorbing the nutrients you are consuming. This also helps with natural body cleansing function & efficiency. Don’t wait till you’re starving to eat as this will only encourage binging.  Be sure to have a snack of veggies and a fruit with you between meals and drink water which will help avert feelings of starvation and cravings. Start exercising

The Health Check – Keeping Your Golden Retriever Healthy

Keeping your golden retriever healthy is of primary concern to all dog owners. As a dog owner, you need to ensure that your dog’s immune system is doing well. You need to keep your dog healthy and happy. It is your duty as an owner to make sure that your dogs constitution is strong and can ward off any disease or sickness easily.

There are many ways of keeping your golden retriever healthy. The most important aspect of keeping your dog healthy is to give him a home-made food diet. Home-made food is far better than canned food. In fact, it has been known that most commercial dog food is made up of waste animal fat content or unusable grains, not fit for consumption by humans.

Hence, it makes a lot of sense to give your dog fresh food consisting of fruits and vegetables and fresh meat like chicken, mutton and beef. For water, you should ideally use spring water or filtered water instead of tap water. This is because tap water may contain traces of Lead and Mercury. Giving your dog fresh food will ensure that he gets the nutrition he deserves.

Bones by themselves are very good for your golden retriever, and will help them develop a strong set of teeth. Get him used to chewing on bones and make it a treat for him by leaving some meat on the bone. Golden retrievers are gifted with a great set of teeth. Chewing on a bone will really help in developing jaw strength.

Alternatively, you can also give him chew toys to chew upon. Either way, make sure that he doesn’t end up chewing on your slippers or your curtains!

Anticipating health problems in your golden retriever are an essential part of keeping your golden retriever healthy. If you’re careful, you will not need to go to the vet much. Lay special emphasis on any reproductive disorders, which you think your golden retriever may have.

Don’t neglect these, as they can sometimes be fatal. Neutering your male golden retriever is a good idea if you don’t want him to have too much contact with female Golden retrievers or are not trying to breed. Besides breeding, this will also help reduce any other problems related to tumors and tracked diseases your dog may have later on in life.

Keeping your golden retriever healthy also means having him around for a longer period of time. It is sad when your dog is old and falls sick. If you look after his health well, he will have a healthier life when he grows older.

Make sure your golden retriever has an excellent exercise regime. Keep your dog active and take it for walks, three to four times a day. If you have a yard let it run around as much as it can. This is the best exercise it can get. Taking him out will also get you some exercise. The better health he has, the longer he is going to stay by you

How to Diet for Healthy Weightloss ? not Starvation

The dieting industry is filled with so-called gurus. It can be frustrating and confusing to sort through the volumes of information generated by these gurus. How do you know what to trust? How do you know what’ll work? Can you believe a diet will work, just because a famous personality on TV told you it would?

I have a humble suggestion: trust your common sense. If a diet plan tells you to do something that sounds unhealthy, like only eating protein, it probably is unhealthy. Healthy diets, for weightloss or anything else, are always balanced. They always include many different kinds of food, since no one type of food contains all the nutrients you need.

Similarly, many diets will tell you to cut down on your calorie intake dramatically. The government recommends at least a 2,000 calorie diet because you need that energy for your daily routine-does eating only 1,200 or 1,500 calories sound like a healthy weightloss strategy to you? Starving yourself on a diet of nothing but lettuce and carrots won’t get you anywhere-you’ll just end up hungry, tired, and grouchy all the time.

A healthier alternative is to continue eating a normal, healthy diet, but employ eating practices which maximize your metabolism and help you burn fat faster. In fact, there’s an entire diet built around these-it’s called FatLoss4Idiots and it’s not being marketed by any gurus on TV. The reputation of FatLoss4Idiots is built solely by satisfied customers of the diet who lost 9 pounds or more with the 11 day, personalized menus it provides. Why risk your health buying into some guru’s outlandish claims when could be stimulating your metabolism naturally with the calorie shifting techniques in FatLoss4Idiots?

The Raw Food Diet: Healthy, or are Benefits Cooked-up?

The Raw Food Diet: Healthy, or are Benefits Cooked-up?

Since when was getting a raw deal a good thing? When you decide to try the Raw Food Diet, apparently. Proponents of this natural food diet stick to unprocessed uncooked plant foods, such as fresh fruit and vegetables, sprouts, seeds, nuts, grains, beans, dried fruit, and seaweed.

Most adherents are vegetarian, while some eat raw fish and even fewer eat (gulp!) raw meat. Either way, you may as well say bye-bye to that new stainless steel stove of yours. That’s because raw food proponents believe that heating any food above 116 degrees Fahrenheit destroys important enzymes that help in digestion and absorption of the essential nourishment you get from your meals.

Critics claim that even if enzymes are inactivated when food is heated, the body uses its own enzymes for digestion. They also point out that cooking makes some phytochemicals easier to absorb into your system.

Regardless of which side you stand on, the emphasis on natural, non-processed food sources, is undeniably a good place to start.

So, are you still interested in trying the raw eating lifestyle? Since this is a pretty drastic change in your eating habits, you may experience some withdrawal symptoms such as headaches and nausea when you first give up sugar and caffeine. But don’t fret; it should only last a couple days. You may also risk some nutritional deficiencies such as protein, calcium and iron, so consider consulting your doctor first.

How to Get Clean Drinking Water & Stay Healthy

How to Get Clean Drinking Water & Stay Healthy

Clean drinking water is something that every society needs.  Wherever you find the purest drinking water, you also find the healthiest people.  But, today, there is a problem.

Our technological advancements have allowed us to do many things that previous generations did not even dream about.  But, those same advancements have threatened our ability to get clean drinking water.

Our Water is Polluted

Rivers, lakes and streams could easily become polluted.  There was always the possibility of animal waste upstream and if someone unknowingly drank from the stream, they could become very ill.

The purest drinking water was found underground.  It was protected from animal waste and the soil itself acted as a filter to remove debris and bacteria.  So, we dug wells or drank from protected springs.  But, as time went by, the soil that protected the groundwater became polluted.

The use of pesticides and herbicides has affected our ability to get clean drinking water, even from a well or spring.  Chemical dumping, industrial waste, gasoline spills, leaks from underground storage tanks and even the pipelines use to transport the water are all sources of the contamination that we now face.

Losing Our Clean Water

I would venture to say that the purest drinking water no longer exists in a naturally occurring aquifer.  There are simply too many people causing contamination.  Even those of us who are very careful about polluting the environment must flush, shower, shave, do dishes and laundry.

Everything that goes down the drain ends up in the groundwater.  Of course the public facilities make every effort to provide clean drinking water.

When something goes down the drain and into the sewer, it ends up a treatment facility where many steps are taken to remove solid waste and other contaminants, but eventually, the facilities dump the treated water back into a river or the ocean.  The solid material that is left behind is often used as fertilizer.  The rain falls and all of those contaminants filter through the soil and back into the groundwater.

Farm runoff ends up in the reservoirs carrying E coli and other bacteria, along with protozoan life forms and microscopic cysts.  In an effort to provide the purest drinking water possible and protect citizens from waterborne illnesses, the facilities use chlorine to kill the bacteria and other life forms, but the microscopic cysts survive.

Technology caused a lot of our problems, but it has also given us the ability to clean drinking water right in our homes.  The old purifiers were expensive and wasted lots of energy.  The new ones are affordable and operate without electricity.

Getting Back to Clean Water

Today, the purest drinking water comes through a filtration device that removes chlorine and its byproducts, along with the cysts that are resistant to public disinfection methods.  A single unit can remove all of the pesticides and herbicides, the industrial waste and chemical contaminants that cannot be removed by treatment facilities.  It can even remove the lead that seeps in because of city pipelines.

Shop Carefully for an Efficient Water Filter System

Of course, you have to compare quality and contaminant removal.  Businesses know that you have a need for clean drinking water and they sometimes take advantage of this need by supplying inferior products.  So, be sure to shop wisely.  For more information see my website. – Larry L. Taylor

Healthy Water ? Answer To 6 Common Ailments

Just imagine if you could find a natural remedy to the various, but common, physical afflictions endured in our fast-paced world.  It is closer than you think, refreshing and healthy, water.  Water makes up almost 70% of your body; every aspect of your body’s functioning depends on it.  Therefore, what could be more natural in giving you life and healing?  Consider the following ailments:

#1 Headaches

Your first instinct when your head is throbbing is to grab the nearest pain medication.  Often a headache is your brain rationing water when you lack it, producing histamines.  What seems counter-intuitive, pain medications (i.e. antihistamines) are merely telling your brain to “shut up”, not to mention producing side-effects.  A glass of healthy water can relieve pain faster and cheaper.

#2 Depression/Anxiety

When you become dehydrated, even slightly, your brain cannot give the energy you need, producing that “run down feeling”.  There is a possibility that on the subconscious level your body considers the lack of water a threat to its survival, thereby increasing the anxiety within.  While dehydration is not always the cause for these ailments, water can only help, especially when accompanying common anti-depressants with constipation as a side-effect.

#3 Back Pain

Everyday you put a lot of pressure on your spine, anywhere from sitting at work or standing long-term.  When you lack fluids in your system, the spinal discs in the vertebrate cannot absorb the pressure put on the back.  These tiny discs hydrate themselves with water, of which bears much of the burden you place on your back.  In addition to drinking healthy water, practicing some flex movements of the spine will also prevent and alleviate most back pain.

#4 Arthritis

For similar reasons as that of back pain, arthritis can develop from your joints failing to be properly lubricated.  When joints rub together they utilize water within to prevent friction.  Without proper hydration joints become dry and inflamed, causing arthritis and other joint-related ailments; in addition, their pain can make movement unbearable, thereby exacerbating the friction and lack of lubrication.

#5 Hypertension

Water makes up 80% of your blood; when you don’t get enough of it blood loses its “robustness”.  When this happens some of your vessels restrict themselves increasing the risk of hypertension.  Caffeinated beverages add insult to injury by further constricting blood flow further as well as dehydrating you.  Pouring yourself some clean, healthy water is not only refreshing, it will lower your tension.

#6 Asthma

Asthma is the result of mucus build-up inside the lungs.  If lungs are not kept hydrated, the body will use histamines, or mucus, as an alternate to keep the lungs from becoming dry.  In addition, extra consideration must be given to the water consumed, as many added chemicals such as chlorine and fluoride can increase the risk of an asthma attack.

Keeping Water Clean & Contaminant Free

Common ailments, such as above, cannot be remedied with just any water, but only with healthy clean water, contaminant-free and preserving the natural minerals your body needs.  Various chemicals and metals having leaked into the water systems (even some in bottled water) can have serious long-term effects on your body, such as liver & kidney damage, and cancer.  A good home water filtration system may be the answer, as it will remove most harmful substances while preserving natural minerals within the water.

Your goal?  Keep yourself hydrated with healthy water and take proper steps in keeping it clean and pure.  Water is the foundation for life; let it serve its purpose to heal and refresh you inside out.

The Only Water is Clean Water: Using a Distiller to Stay Healthy

Environmental concerns are part of our society’s daily consciousness. While most of us can’t tangibly recognize melting glaciers, rising sea levels, or holes in our atmosphere, we may be directly affected every time we run the tap. As early as ten years ago we as a society believed that local governments took the health and safety of its citizens seriously, but rarely did they give a second thought to what may be lurking in our water supplies. Now, ever-growing concerns about the presence of contaminates in our drinking water has spurred action.

The Natural Resources Defense Council’s study of water systems for 19 U.S. cities found that pollution and deteriorating, out-of-date plumbing sometimes delivers unsafe drinking water.

“Many cities around the country rely on pre-World War I-era water delivery systems and treatment technology. Aging pipes can break, leach contaminants into the water they carry and breed bacteria.”

Contaminates repeatedly found in the cities surveyed were lead, pathogens (germs), by-products of chlorine treatment, arsenic, and radon; a few ways these contaminates reach drinking water are from sewer system overflows after heavy rains, runoff from roads, agricultural and domestic fertilizers, and industrial pollutions leached into ground water.

Most people have switched to drinking bottled water, only to discover that our landfills are beyond capacity, thanks largely to the plastic bottles compounding the problem of pollution. The trend these days is the use of tap mounted and pitcher filtration devices. But the distillation process is becoming increasingly popular due to its efficiency.

How It Works

This method works just like the water cycle taught in elementary earth science. The water is heated to its boiling point until it creates steam by evaporation. The stable temperature keeps the water vaporization in process, meanwhile prohibiting contaminants and sediments from being evaporated. The evaporated water is captured and sent through to another container where it cools and condenses back into its liquid form.

Water distillation is effective in removing inorganic compounds, such as metals (iron and lead), hardness (calcium and magnesium), and other harmful contaminates from the water supply. Microorganisms such as bacteria and some viruses are discarded through the boiling process, which also helps to rid the water of some organic compounds and pesticides.

Michael Russell writes about a variety of subjects, including real estate, environmentalism and modern architecture. This water discusses the importance of an effective water distiller.
