Weight Loss Diet Bariatric Diet What Comes Next

The bariatric diet is what you will follow for the first 2-3 months following your gastric bypass surgery. It is something you will spend time learning about before your surgery and you should have the products in your home before you come home from the hospital. This diet has four stages that last approximately 2 months total, but then what?

The first 2-3 months are going to be very structured and you will be following the gastric bypass diet that was ordered by your dietitian. But this is a very short time in the grand scheme of things. It is the next several years of your life that will determine your weight loss, whether you maintain it and if you are able to shed your obesity related health issues.

The first six months to a year you will lose weight without trying. The weight is going to come off just because you are not able to consume more than a quarter to a half a cup of food at any given time. You will spend a lot of this time learning about what your body will tolerate and what it will rebel against. This will be an exciting time as you see the pounds come off. You will be able to see your feet again and you will be able to do many things that you have not been able to do for years or maybe you have never done.

But the weight loss will eventually slow down and then stop. From this point forward, the maintenance will be on you. This is where you are going to have to put into practice everything you have learned about nutrition and fitness. You have been blessed with a healthy weight and a changed life, but it will not stay that way if you do not nurture it. If you think that because you have had this surgery that it is impossible for you to gain weight, guess again. There are forums filled with people who have gained weight after surgery and are trying to get rid of it.

Keep those bariatric protein shakes and tennis shoes handy. This is the best advice I can give someone that has lost weight. Exercise regularly and eat meals high in lean protein and low in fat. Eliminate sugar as much as possible. It has no nutritional value and can do a lot to sabotage your efforts at a healthy life. This does not mean you have to give up the things that you love, but you have to learn to set limits. Learning what it takes to be healthy and living by these principles eighty percent of the time will keep your healthy weight.

Are you going to be in need of a fast weight loss diet ?

Water Comes Clean: the World?s Need for Safe, Drinkable Water

Water is a naturally recycled product.

From evaporation to precipitation, it is continuously in flux. It is channeled by the atmosphere from lakes and streams and oceans, absorbed by clouds and generously redistributed across the planet. But water’s natural recycling process does not protect it from pollution.

As water is channeled, it collects toxins floating in the atmosphere. These toxins are the result of natural pollutants and human industry, a potentially lethal combination that makes clean water a serious topic for nations across the globe.

Some people might think that wealthy countries are immune to dirty water. But in the United States alone over seven million people every year are sickened by contaminated tap water, and over 40% of America’s rivers do not meet clean water standards. Fortunately, the U.S. has the awareness and ability to fix these problems. Sadly, we see them unresolved year after year.

For countries that lack wealth and an educated population, the problem is strikingly more severe. In parts of Africa and India, polluted water contributes to disease, hunger and poverty. It is an international issue, though, as the world moves closer to a global economy, and those with proper resources and industry must help those in need.

In response to these issues, numerous clean water groups have become non-profit organizations that provide valuable assistance and information. One important group is Global Water. Global Water works in poor countries and builds water systems with effective sanitation technology. They provide the public with the informational resources to help them avoid disease and other dirty water ailments. Their website provides a list of their services and locations, as well as interesting and important clean water solutions.

The United States passed the Clean Water Act in 1972. This overwhelmingly bipartisan bill assured that all of the country’s plants, animals, and people would have clean water. In 2003, aspects of the bill were scrutinized, limited, and altered. However, fervent effort is now in place to reform the bill and expand its warranty and reconstitute its natural scope.

Among the many environmental issues we currently face, clean water is one of the oldest, most serious, and certainly one of the more important. If we invest in clean water, the international population will grow into a healthy and thriving community. Economically, clean water is a wise investment. Environmentally, it is an imperative step. And on a personal level, clean water for everyone is an inalienable right.

Clean Water Act & Regulation Comes to the Commercial Marine Industry!

Clean Water Act & Regulation Comes to the Commercial Marine Industry!

The Feds are coming, and the fines are hefty. With the new, strict EPA enforcement of the Clean Water Act, workboat operations will never be the same. Effective 2009, all non-recreational vessels at least 79 feet long are being issued NPDES permits for managing all waste waters generated on board — that includes gray water and treated black water — in addition to existing regulations for oily bilge water. http://www.epa.gov/npdes/pubs/vessel_presentation_epa_maritimemeeting.pdf

With more “no discharge” zones being designated throughout inland and coastal waters, the pressure is on boat operators to better reduce and manage marine wastewaters.
No discharge is the only safe discharge.

SkimOil Inc. has introduced the MarineVAP (patent pending), the new onboard system for evaporating marine waste waters, including gray water, oil bilge water — even treated black water. MarineVAP is designed specifically for the marine industry and their disposal problems.

SkimOil’s zero liquid discharge MarineVAP system is a new and completely marinized, simple device and the logical successor to the SkimOil BilgeVAP that has been successfully used for years to eliminate oily bilge water on inland waterways workboats. “Our technology is mature and has been well proven,” said SkimOil president R.J. McWilliams, “and now the materials and controls are even better and allow us to provide a new compact completely automated system for evaporating away marine wastewaters simply and safely. Anyone creating marine wastewaters has cradle to grave responsibility for that water. MarineVAP is the grave and the final solution for eliminating marine wastewaters”.

Unlike storage tanks that take up a lot of room or treatment systems that can be complicated and require constant operator involvement while still relying on pumping the water off for costly third-party disposal, the electric-powered MarineVAP, with no emissions, is the “final solution” to managing bilge and gray waters. MarineVAP safely and automatically turns marine wastewaters to vapor and evaporates it away. Gray water is often the largest waste stream on board modern workboats. MarineVAP eliminates the problem by eliminating the water. MarineVAP is a ZERO liquid discharge (ZLD) system.

MarineVAP is a compact, closed/sealed unit with a small (2′ x 2′) footprint and external insulated electric  heat coils around a smaller vertical heat transfer chamber. Designed with an automatic control system for automated startup, shutdown and operation, the completely self-contained MarineVAP system incorporates a pump for metering water into the unit on demand, to keep up with the amount of water evaporated. This process is far more efficient than heating a large tank of water and allows for rapid heating adequate to evaporate waste streams safely and quickly. The newly developed proprietary control system includes level controls, auto-clean cycle and automatic shutdown for low level or high temperatures and status monitoring. With digital display diagnostics and monitoring MarineVAP is a completely automated system capable of running HOA “hands off automatic” and requires very little operator involvement.

MarineVAP #MV8 evaporates 8.3 gallons of marine wastewater per hour. Larger sizes are available, as is the SkimOil dual fuel ShoreVAP, which uses LPG or waste oil/diesel to fire the evaporator. SkimOil has been marketing their electric BilgeVAP to the workboat industry for years—-for successfully evaporating oil bilge water away.
